Planet

Combating the climate crisis is the defining challenge of our time and a top priority for Valley Northern, We are collaborating with suppliers and customers to help them transform and build a more sustainable and resilient world. This is the right move, not just for the good of the planet but also for the long-term sustainability of our clients.Valley Northern is committed to leading by example by making progress on our own net zero transformation.We have committed to reach net zero climate impact by 2045, a significant step in our internal commitment to sustainability.

We also encourage the use of public transport, car sharing, walking or cycling where possible for staff to use to get towork, as this is helps to reduce the environmental impact and carbon footprint that is used by members of staff getting to work. We have a cycle to work scheme available to all employees Valley Northern has also chosen to use electric forklift trucks in our warehouse, as opposed to other fuels, such as diesel, to reduce the amount of air pollution caused using these trucks.

Upgrading heating systems to reduce energy consumption and emissions while improving climate control.

Fundraising Days

Regularly host charity events to raise funds for important causes while boosting employee engagement and teamwork.

Paperless Billing

Encouraged digital billing, reducing paper use by over 285 kg and minimizing waste for a more sustainable invoicing system.

Reforestation Projects

Partnered with Ecologi to plant a tree per eco-friendly bag sold, supporting reforestation,  sustainability and reducing carbon footprint.

Solar Panels

Installed solar panels to reduce carbon footprint, lower energy costs, and support renewable energy transition.

Wellbeing Schemes

Introduced schemes such as Cycle-to-Work, Sight Test Vouchers and Salary Benchmarking for our employees.

Order Consolidation

Encouraged customers to combine shipments, reducing fuel consumption and cutting transportation-related carbon emissions.

Waste Pallet Reduction

Damaged pallets were repurposed as biofuel, reducing landfill waste and promoting a circular economy.

Economic Development

Accelerating the end of extreme poverty and improve livelihoods. Valley Northern believesin paying a fair wage that is above minimum wage to improve our employee livelihoods, wehave a profit share bonus system with all employees and donate vast amounts of money tocharities that help out those in need. We also offer additional programmes for ouremployees to help with the cost of living, such as subsidised lunches and salarybenchmarking.

Global Health

Making health care more accessible to promote healthy lives for all. Valley Northern ispassionate about making health care accessible to all. We also are strong believers increating positive working conditions, we also offer support for physical and mental healthwith access to an employee assistance program. This platforms gives every employee 24/7access to healthcare and advice when they need it most.

Climate Risk, Adaptation, and Resilience

We have ensured all of the plastic bag ranges that we offer are made from a minimum of30% recycled content to help encourage recycling and to encourage a circular economy.Some of our bags are even made from 100% recycled material and we actively encourageour customers to switch to using more environmentally friendly alternatives in discussionswith them. We also print the environmental properties on our generic designed bags as toinform the consumer how to properly dispose after use.
