Pleased to supply NHS Nightingale London
Posted in: About Valley Northern 8th April 2020Valley Northern contracted to supply NHS Nightingale with bespoke design antimicrobial glove and apron dispensers.
Valley Northern, headquartered in Stafford, supplies pharmacies, hospitals and other healthcare establishments with a range of medical dispensers, medical disposables, packaging and other equipment – and has been doing so for over seventy years.
As an approved contracted supplier to the NHS, Valley Northern was approached to supply the temporary ICU hospital at London’s ExCel conference centre with the company’s convenient range of hygienic and compact PPE dispensers.
The NHS Nightingale Hospital facility in London’s Docklands is one of several scheduled to be opened across the UK throughout the coming weeks. The 87,328 square metre ExCel Centre, which usually hosts corporate and music events, was transformed into a unit with a total capacity of 4,000 Coronavirus patients in just nine days.
A combination of NHS staff, contractors and up to 200 military personnel took part in the construction to provide further healthcare capacity to treat Coronavirus patients in the capital.
“As key suppliers to the UK healthcare market, here at Valley Northern we have been glad to be able to support frontline NHS staff by supplying our Hygihub® glove and apron dispensers to the new NHS Nightingale centre at ExCel London,” says Darren Pittock, Contracts Specialist at Valley Northern. “We are working hard to provide key supplies to the NHS and support them in the great work they are doing.”
Valley Northern’s range of Hygihub® glove and apron dispensers are highly recommended by infection control personnel due to their unique antimicrobial finish, which renders the stainless steel dispensers resistant to microbes such as bacteria and mould.
As time was of the essence to deliver these dispensers down to London’s Docklands in time for the NHS Nightingale Hospital to be opened to the first 500 COVID-19 patients, Valley Northern arranged for the items to be picked, packed, despatched and delivered by the end of the day that the order was placed.
Expediting the delivery meant that the Hygihub® dispensers could be fitted in plenty of time for Prince Charles to open the London ExCel Centre as the UK's first Coronavirus field hospital on Friday 3rd April.
In addition to glove and apron dispensers, Valley Northern has recently supplied the Royal London Hospital for Integrated Medicine, a University College London Hospitals (UCLH) centre, with dropper bottles and pipettes. These products will form part of an ‘emotional health first aid kit’ being developed to form part of the care that Psychology and Trauma Services are providing to help frontline NHS Staff cope with traumatic stress during their battle with COVID-19.
“We are pleased to be able to do our bit in the fight against this horrible Coronavirus by supporting the NHS at this critical time,” says Oliver Pittock, Managing Director at Valley Northern. “Our company strapline is ‘Hassle Free Because We Care’ – and this is a prime example of this ringing true.
“We truly have a great team, who are working their socks off to keep the medical supplies flowing and proving our core values of being kind, true, Customer-focused winners!”
